Grade a whole class
before bedtime
Cohorts, a teacher dashboard, AI feedback that's consistent across every essay. Built for IELTS prep schools and tutors who don't want to spend their evenings marking.
Every essay graded against the four public IELTS Writing criteria.
One view, all your teachers' cohorts — exactly what owners see inside the portal.
Built for the way IELTS classes actually work
Cohorts that match your classes
Group students into September A, IELTS-7-Prep, Evening-Pro — whatever you call them. Each cohort has its own teachers, students, assignments and analytics.
Teacher dashboard, not a spreadsheet
See average band, last-week delta, who hasn't submitted in 7 days, who's drifting below their target. The signal you'd otherwise have to compute by hand.
AI grading at scale, consistent
Every essay graded against the four public IELTS Writing criteria. Same essay, same score, every time — that consistency is what makes progress measurable.
Roles for the way schools work
Owner controls billing. Office admin handles enrolment. Teachers run their cohorts. Students submit. Parents see progress. Each role sees exactly what they need.
Three shapes of IELTS prep
You teach IELTS on the side or full-time. You want every student to get an AI-graded essay between sessions — without paying out of your own pocket per check.
Multiple teachers, shared roster, one billing line. You want cohorts split per teacher, but a director's view that rolls up every cohort's progress.
You run a structured IELTS prep programme. You need consistent grading at scale, role-based access for staff, and invoicing that fits procurement.

Questions before you start
How do my students join my BandCheck team?
Owner or office admin creates each student account in the school portal (one click per student, or bulk via CSV). Students log in with the credentials you give them — no separate sign-up, no app install. Their submissions are graded from your team's pool, not their wallet.
Can teachers see what their students are doing?
Yes. Each teacher's dashboard shows their cohorts: roster, who's submitted in the last week, average band trend, who has drifted below target. Teachers can open any submission to see the essay, the assignment image, and the full AI feedback.
How is billing handled?
One monthly invoice in USD on the Starter tier; flexible billing (local currency, annual contracts, custom terms) on the Center tier. No per-student credit-card management — the school owns the relationship.
Can I migrate from another tool?
Yes. We onboard your roster from a spreadsheet, set up your cohorts to match your classes, and you start grading the same day. Custom imports for Google Classroom, Moodle and similar — included on the Center tier.
How accurate is the AI band score?
BandCheck evaluates essays against the four official IELTS Writing criteria using a modern large language model. Scores are estimates and may differ from official exam results — they are useful for practice and progress tracking, not a guarantee of your exam outcome.
What is the difference between Task 1 and Task 2?
Task 1 is an objective description of visual information (chart, graph, map, process) — minimum 150 words. Task 2 is an argumentative essay on a given topic — minimum 250 words. Task 2 carries about two thirds of your Writing band score.
Is my students' essay data private?
Essay text is sent to a third-party AI provider for evaluation. We do not sell user data. You can request full deletion at any time. Custom data terms (including Vertex AI) are available on the Custom tier. See our Privacy Policy.
Is BandCheck affiliated with British Council or IELTS?
No. BandCheck is an independent AI tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by British Council, IDP IELTS, or Cambridge English Language Assessment. IELTS is a registered trademark of its respective owners.
